Mentorship Is the Program

Running is the vehicle. Mentorship is the destination. Every Running 505 athlete is paired with a trained volunteer mentor who shows up consistently — on the track, in the classroom, and in life. Our mentors are coaches, community members, and role models who believe every kid deserves a champion in their corner.

Why Mentors Make the Difference

Research is clear: young people with consistent mentors are more likely to stay in school, avoid risky behaviors, and develop the confidence to reach their potential. At Running 505, mentors don't just coach kids to run — they build relationships that last beyond the season. Did you know that Running 505 is a research-based program?

01

Weekly Sessions Mentor

Lead warm-ups, drills, and workouts. Participate in lesson conversations. No elite experience required — just consistency and encouragement. Walk or Run.

02

Pace Partner

Run alongside athletes during our monthly 5k races. Your presence alone tells a kid they're worth showing up for.

03

Life Skills Mentor

Lead short check-ins on goal-setting, mindset, and resilience. Help kids connect running to real life: in school, at home, and in the community.

04

Event Volunteer

Support events, fundraisers, and community events. Great for those with limited weekly availability.

We Can't Do This Without You

Our programs are only as strong as the adults who show up. If you have 90 minutes a week and a belief that kids can do hard things, you have everything it takes to be a Running 505 mentor.
